The resignation of the medical director of the OSI Barrualde-Galdakao comes in the midst of the restructuring of the Galdakao-Usansolo Hospital Emergency Service, where medical casualties and internal movements have multiplied in recent weeks.
According to the trade union representatives , about 40% of emergency doctors have applied for or recently left their jobs, so it has been necessary to reorganize shifts and temporarily strengthen the service with professionals from other health institutions.
This Thursday at 13:00, representatives of the OSI Works Council and Management will meet to discuss the current situation and find waysto improve it. Osakidetza has indicated that efforts are being made to ensure health care and stabilize the service.
By the end of 2022, some professionals expressed concern about the overload of care and the lack of staff to cope with the steady increase in patients.
The Department of Health has stressed that measures are being taken to fill vacancies , such as the mobilization of staff between different OSIs, both in Galdakao-Usansolo and in the Gernika Regional Hospital.
In the latter centre, several workers have been informed of the possibility of adjusting their hours in the Emergency Service, while Osakidetza insists that there is no closed decision on the matterand that several options are being considered.
