ACV public education teachers receive the highest salaries in Spain
According to an UGT study, teachers in the ACV receive the highest salaries in Spain at all stages of education, while in Asturias the lowest salaries are recorded, with differences of more than 800 euros.
Teachers ofpublic education in the Basque Autonomous Community are back at the top of Spanish wages by 2025, according to a study published by UGT. The difference with teachers in Asturias, the worst paid, exceeds 800 euros in vocational training.
The report contains the initial salaries without seniority and payable charges, including basic salaries and autonomous supplements. According to the data, the highest-paid teachers are the teachers of the Basque Country, Cantabria and Castilla-La Mancha, and the Asturians, Extremadura and Catalonia are at the bottom of the table.
In primary education, the highest-paid teachers are from the Canary Islands (2,986 euros gross), Ceuta and Melilla (2,960 euros gross) and the Basque Country (2,858 euros). In Asturias there are 2,312 euros and in Madrid the state average is 2,473 euros.
UGT denounces that despite the purchasing power recovery pacts and the increases agreed between 2025 and 2028, wage inequality persistsdue to autonomous supplements. The union calls for harmonization and regularization of wage increases between communities to reduce imbalance.
The report also points out that Madrid and Catalonia, although economically strong, have lower education salaries, which means differences of up to EUR 710 in vocational training compared to those in the Basque Country.
