The Government will regulate the accreditation of single-parent families and increase financial support by 30%
The decree adopted by the Basque Government will enable these families to apply for digital accreditation by facilitating access to aid from the various administrations, 80% of which are made up of a mother and one or more children, and in the ACV there are about 21,000 families.
This was announced by the Minister for Welfare, Youth and Demographic Challenge of the Basque Government, Nerea Melgosa, at the press conference following the Governing Council.
The counsellor has explained that 80 per cent of this type of family is made up of women (with one or more children) who have greater difficulties in reconciling family and working life.
This Decree shall regulate the accreditation of the single-parent family, which shall facilitate access to the assistance of the administrations. From 1 January 2026, this digital certificate may be requested online or directly from Zuzenean.
In addition, the aid provided by the Basque Government for single-parent families will be increasedby 30%, since, together with EUR 200 per child, an additional EUR 100 will be granted until the child reaches the age of 7.
Melgosa has said that the Basque Country "legally accepts single-parent families", which in the ACV are about 21,000 families .
