Alavesa illustrator Amaia Arrazola dies
The 41-year-old visual artist, who died in Barcelona, seasoned the books "Waba Sabi" and "Totoro and I", as well as the poster of the 2024 Andrea Blanca parties.
The Alavese illustrator Amaia Arrazola, author of the books "Waba Sabi" and "Totoro y yo", as well as several giant murals exhibited around the world, died in Barcelona at the age of 41.
Arrazola was born in 1984 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, studied Advertising and Public Relations at the Complutense University of Madrid and then started working as an art director in the advertising sector.
In 2010 he arrived in Barcelona, where he began his career as a freelance professional illustrator, acting for Uniqlo, Nike and other brands, as well as for the University of Barcelona, the City Council of Barcelona and the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, among others.
In 2018, he published the book "Waba Sabi," with Lunwerg Editors, and his performance took another course, confirmed by the 2022 work "Totoro and I," based on Japanese Hayao Miyazaki's films.
This year he made a mural for Cirque du Soleil's new show "Joy," and also signed the poster of the 2024 White Virgin's Festivities.
