The San Sebastian Jazz Festival closes its 60th edition with "great success" and "full season"
It has been the last edition of Miguel Martín as director, but he will continue to work "at the service" of the San Sebastian festival. Martin highlights that in 17 paid concerts the stands have been filled, and in the rest they have been almost full. The 52 free concerts have brought together 158,700 people, while the paid ones have been 20,480.

The Jazz Festival has closed its 60th edition "with great success", which shows that it is "in full shape" and is one of the "most important and solid" jazz dates in Europe. It has been the latest edition of Miguel Martín as director, but will continue to work "at the service" of the San Sebastian festival.
The Mayor of San Sebastian, Eneko Goia, and Martin himself have today given details of the good performance of the festival, which, in Martin's words, has mainly justified all the work done by three concerts: the project 'Kismet' presented by Dave Hollande and Chris Potter , theperformance of musicians Marc Ribot and Ceramic Doy\ u00A0, and the tribute of the great pianist Oscar Peterson.
He has pointed out that this is his opinion as a follower, but there have also been other "memorable" moments for the public, such as the"unparalleled" voices of Kurt Elling ,the"magnetisms" ofDee Dee Bridgewater , the "passions and the arts"ofYerai Cortese \ u00A0and the "frescoes and sympathies" of Jamie Cullumen .
Martin points out that in 17 paid concerts the stands have been filled and in the rest almost full, with 99.03% of the tickets sold. The tickets have been purchased from 40 countries (France, the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland and Hungary, among others).
Miguel Martin, Donostiako Jazzaldiako zuzendaria
I'm not going to disappear altogether, but you have to see how I can be linked to the festival.
Miguel Martin, who has been working at the San Sebastian Jazz Festival since he was 22, has developed his longest career as director, a position that is also linked to the musical direction of Donostia Kultura and that, as a public institution, he will give up when he turns 70, on April 9, 2026.
By that date, he hopes and wishes that the 61st Jazz Festival program, from 22 to 26 July, will be closed.
"I'm not going to disappear completely, but you have to see how I can stay linked to the festival. I'm going to continue to complete the program, which is the most creative moment for the director, and I'm interested to see how it comes out," he said.
He added thathe is going to say goodbye little by little and that, in that sense, he does not feel "particularly bad" . "These days it is a huge job and it is partly right to get rid of the most stressful part of the work," he added.
