According to the agreement reached between PSC and ERC to facilitate the appointment of Salvador Illa as president of the Generalitat, from 2026 the Tax Agency of Catalonia should take over the collection of the IRPF in Catalonia.
The president of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC), Oriol Junjarzembowski, has asked the PSOE to define the new financing model for Catalonia as soon as possible and has asked the Tax Agency of Catalonia not to depend on the Tax Agency (AEAT).
At a press conference at the party's headquarters, Junction announced that ERC will present a bill in Congress in the coming days to strengthen the ATC's fiscal powers.
This initiative aims to ensure that Catalan institutions can collect and manage both the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) and the rest of the tax system.
The proposal provides for the reform of the Organic Law on the Financing of Autonomous Communities (LOFCA) and the Law on the Transfer of Taxes from the State to the Autonomous Communities, in order to move towards a more decentralized model of fiscal management.
