On Thursday, the plenary of the Congress of Deputies gave thegreen light to the proposed law which,with the support of PSOE, PP, Vox and PNV, contains a package of measures against those who repeat crimes by Junts. This law calls for greater rigour in punishing small robberies and, although adopted by a clear majority, has been rejected by the majority of government partners.
It has received 302 votes in favour, 36 against and 8 abstentions from initiatives amending the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Act and will now be referred to the Senate, which, among other things, imposes a three-year prison sentence on those who steal mobile phones.
