European Security Council countries call on Israel to abandon its plan to occupy Gaza

Greece calls on the European Union to help deal with forest fires

The fires are taking place in 11 regions of the country and at least 7,000 people have been evacuated in the vicinity of the capital. Fire spokesman Vasilis Vathrakoyannis has explained that six aircraft have been orderedbecause "the fires of the last few days have become very large and are dangerous."
