Tension is highest in the South China Sea, at the crossroads of defense and military power
If there is a risk of collision between U.S. and Chinese forces, that is the South China Sea. Beijing claims these waters by drawing a nine-point line, including Taiwan, part of the Philippines and the islets it has built artificial islands. This clashes with the sovereignty of several countries, such as the Philippines, Vietnam or Malaysia.
China is ready to deal with the Ragasa supertyphoon after causing 10 deaths and more than 100 missing in Taiwan
Hurricane winds have paralyzed Hong Kong today. In Taiwan, the supertyphoon has left at least 14 dead, 20 injured and more than 100 missing. Most of the dead were elderly people on the first floor of their home because they couldn't evacuate them in time.
A lake overflows and floods in Taiwan as a result of rains left by supertyphoon Ragasa
At least 75 people have been trapped and two are missing in the municipality of Guangfu after a natural lake overflowed as a result of the heavy rains caused by the Ragasa supertyphoon. The water has covered the town centre and the population has had to climb roofs and vehicles until rescue teams arrive.
