ELA will appeal the indefinite strike being carried out by the workers of the companyEnviser , subcontractor for the maintenance of gardens and green areas in Vitoria-Gasteiz, to the minimum services established by the Basque Government, considering them "unjustified" and "violating the right to strike".
For the establishment of minimum services, the Department of Economy, Labour and Employment took into account two reports from the Vitoria Traffic and Fire Department "warning of the danger of certain green areas and the current situation of certain urban roads".
ELA has called for "accountability" for Turner and the City Council of Vitoria-Gasteiz to seek solutions to unblock the labor dispute that lasts more than 80 days and to "restore" parks and gardens to normal.
ELA calls for the City Council to mediate between the outsourced private company and the workforce to "guarantee workers' rights and provide a quality service to citizens".
The union has denounced that "work with precarious conditions is now considered essential" when workers are subject to a state agreement and do not receive the minimum wage.
"After more than 80 days of indefinite strike, employers still do not want to negotiate wage increases," the union has criticized in a statement.
