The Basque Country wants to touch the sky and position itself in the "dream team" of aeronautics, for which it will make a public-private investment of 110 million euros, led by ITP Aero and with the participation of more than 12 companies — half of them small or medium-sized — The investment will generate about 800 jobs and, as explained in the presentation by its president, Imanol Pradales, "will bring the future of aviation in the Basque Country."
The project was presented on Monday by the Basque Government, chaired by the lehendakari, at the headquarters of ITP Aero in Zamudio (Bizkaia). The Government has explained that the Basque Industry is the first industrial transformation project of the 2030 Plan and has been named 'New aeronautical engine architectures for sustainable and competitive aviation in the Basque Country'.
The initiative will involve public/private investment of more than EUR 110 million, of which more than EUR 60 million will be earmarked for R & D and technological development, and will create 800 jobs,200 direct and 600 indirect.
This first transformative project aims at "the development and industrialization of new engine architectures that will become future aviation," the president explained.
"The aim is to bring aviation in the Basque Country into the future and thus contribute to the strategic autonomy of Europe, "Pradales added.
