The joint transport ticket announced by the Spanish Government may be used from 19 January
The Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puente, has stated that the Government's intention is to work with the other administrations, such as the Autonomous Communities and municipalities, to unify or integrate urban and inter-urban subscriptions in the future and to be able to spray them with a single transport card, as is the case in other European countries.
The Minister for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has advanced that the joint transport subscription announced on Monday by President Pedro Sánchez, which will serve the entire state, will be available from next January 19.
In an interview on Spanish television, Puente has explained that the new subscription will not replace the current one for the Suburban Railways and will provide a wider service, never a smaller one.
It also points out that the Government intends to work with the various administrations, such as the Communities or the municipalities, to unify or integrate urban and inter-urban subscriptions in the future and to be able to spray them with a single transport ticket, as is the case in other European countries. To this end, a pact will be made with the administrations that want to join the project. Puente has said that the government preferred "to have joined them from the beginning", but has said that it has not been possible, for different reasons, for politicians to come together, but is "convinced" that they will join.
Puente has also denied that the Spanish president has used this announcement to "divert the debate" by confirming that they have been working on the matter for two years.
Pedro Sanheze announced on Monday that next January a unified transport ticket will be launched at a price of 60 euros per month to travel around the state, at medium distance and on state network buses across the country, at a cost of 30 euros per month for young people under 26.
