"Gipuzkoa" documentary by Julio Caro Baroja in Tabakalera
The Basque Film Library will project on 23 and 30 November (18:00) in Tabakalera the documentary Guipúzcoa (Pius Caro Baroja, 1979). The film, of 3 hours and 45 minutes, will be shown in two parts of 112 and 95 minutes, with subtitles in Spanish, within the events organized to commemorate the centenary of the first appearance of the name Ipuscua.
The documentary, commissioned by the Savings Bank of San Sebastian on the occasion of the centenary of the financial institution, is divided into eight parts: Man, Stone, Meadows, Tree, Agriculture, Iron, Sea and Cities.
The script was written by Pius Caro Baroja with the help of the anthropologist and historian brother Julio Caro Baroja. The film has been digitized by the technical department of the Basque Film Library from a copy stored in its archive.
From 10 December, the documentary will be available on the websites of the Kutxa Foundation and the Basque Film Library.
