The Vitoria-Gasteiz jazz festival has scheduled 50 concerts
The Vitoria-Gasteiz Jazz Festival has presented a programme of about 50 concerts for its 48th edition, in which the purest jazz and other styles (soul, rock, bossa nova...) will be heard in the Alavesa capital from 14 to 19 July.
In Mendizorroza will perform, as usual, the greatest names starting on the 16th: the Clasijazz Big Band performing Charles Mingus 'Epitaph , Jazzmeia Horn and José James (July 17), Al Di Meola and Kenny Barron (July 18), Dora Morelenbaum and Toquinho, accompanied by Yamandu Costa.
In addition, this year the cycle that used to be held at the Main Theatre will be transferred to the Palacio Europa on the occasion of the renovation of the theatre and will be performed in the Palacio de Congresos by the quartet Move (Basque musicians Iñigo Ruiz de Gordejuela, Borja Barrueta and Alberto Arteta, and the Aragonese Javier Callén, on the 14th) and other contemporary proposals.
Jazz will also be heard on the street thanks to the cycles of Jazz Street (ten local groups and the Catalan South Side Stompers) and Jazz Park, which will function as the venue for the festival on July 12, and will propose twelve hours of musical programming in Prado Park with the participation of EITB: the performance of the students of the Conservatory of Music Jesus Guridi and the Bangbaduo combos of the Luis Aramburu School of Music, Septeto Santiaguero, DJs.
Finally, several of the city's venues will become jazz clubs during the days of the jazz festival: Café Abisinia, Bar El Abuelo, Extitxu, Café Dublín, Hotel Kora Green City, Sidrería Mendiola, Urria Taberna, NH Chancellor Ayala, La Musa, HF, Bar Toloño and The Tap.
