Sanchez has proposed to appear on July 9, but most partners want it to be earlier
On the other hand, the PP wants it to be this week. The Spanish Government has explained that 9 July is the first date on which Sanchez is free because he already has several international commitments on his agenda, namely the NATO summit on 24 and 25 June and the European Council on 26 and 27.
Pedro Sanchez met with representatives of Junts today.
The Socialist Parliamentary Group has proposed that the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, should appear in plenary on 9 July at the Board of Speakers of Congress to discuss, among other things, the Koldo case. However, most of the parliamentary partners want it to be earlier, while the PP has called for a new meeting for the President to appear later this week.
According to parliamentary sources, the Spanish Government has explained that 9 July is the first date on which Sanchez is free and that he already has a number of international commitments on his agenda, at which the President will give explanations on the Koldo case, but also on the summits held by NATO on 24 and 25 June and the Council of Europe on 26 and 27 June .
The PPspokesman, Miguel Tellado, has stated at a press conference that his group has proposed to change the agenda of this week's plenary session so that the head of the Spanish Government can appear after the end of this Thursday's sitting, but the PSOE, with the supportof EH Bildu, has opposed it.
Tellado thanks Vox, ERC, Podemos, PNV and Junts for joining the proposal, condemns EH Bildu's attitude and regrets Sumar's "tibidity."
Sumar's spokesman, Veronica Barbero, has explained that a Spanish Prime Minister may have an agenda that "does not allow him to make changes overnight," but that he would not need three weeks to make an appearance "that the president himself has asked for and that citizens are waiting for."
The PNV, for its part, wants the hearing to take place "as soon as possible." Jeltzales understand that Sanchez has a round of contacts with the investiture partners this week and that the PP should not set its agenda, but they do not agree that the Chief Executive's public explanations should be given in mid-July.
In a message on the X social network, ERCspokesman Gabriel Rufián ironically said that Sanchez cannot appear "immediately" for his international commitments and that in the Spanish Government "they should understand that he must remain president in order to continue to comply with that international agenda."
Tellado has described Sanchez as a "criminal" who escapes control of Parliament. He has explained that an extraordinary meeting of the Board of Spokespersons has been requested to try to force an extraordinary and monographic plenary on the Koldo case and the alleged involvementof Santos Cerdán, PSOE's Secretary of Organization until last week.
At a press conference, the Socialist spokesman in the Lower House, Patxi Lopez, argued that 9 July is the first day available on the president's agenda because in the coming weeks he must attend the NATO summit, the European Council and the Development Finance Conference to be held in Seville from 30 June to 3 July.
However, he has indicated that if the other parliamentary groups in Congress express a different will on the board of extraordinary spokespersons requested by the PP, the PSOE will discuss it with them.
