The President will attend the French Senate on Thursday

The French Senate will receive for the first time the visit of a lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, this Thursday in the Upper House created since the French Revolution with the aim of "publicizing the model of self-government, economic development and territorial management in the Basque Country".
The purpose of the visit is "to place the Basque Country as an important player in the European framework in the areas of interregional cooperation, multi-level governance and territorial development ".
They have also pointed out from the Basque Government that the Lehendakari intends to place the Basque Country as an important player in the European framework in these areas and to project the Basque territory as a reference in the 'debate on the model of state in France and in the European debate on the future of stateless nations and regions'.
As explained by the Basque Government, the day will be attended by a representation of political, institutional and economic actors such as the regional president, the head of the Régions de France association, MEPs and companies.
Round table
On the other hand, the Lehendakari will participate in the round table"10 years later: Is there finally confidence in the regions?" The meeting will focus on taking stock of the French territorial model on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the territorial reform promoted by the NOTRe Act, a rule that led to a "profound reorganisation of the regional map" of France, with the aim of "giving the regions greater economic capacity, greater institutional dimension and greater political weight in the governance of the State."
The Basque Government has pointed out, however, that 'thelaw is still under discussionand has stressed the growing demand for greater decentralisation '. In this context, they attach particular importance to the contribution of the lehendakari, which will present the Basque model at an important moment.
