A worker dies falling from a roof in Vitoria
A 57-year-old worker died last Tuesday, July 15, after falling from a height of 7 metres, according to the ELA and LAB unions.
The accident at work occurred around 5.30 p.m. in the town of Mendiguren, in the municipality of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
The worker, who was self-employed and was repairing the roof of a company when part of it broke and collapsed, died instantly.
According to the ELA count, with this death, 31 workers have died in Hego Euskal Herria while working in 2025, 5 in Álava.
Both ELA and LAB have conveyed their solidarity and condolences to the family, friends and close friends of the worker.
LAB recalls the difficulties faced by self-employed workers in the field of occupational health and points out the need for organizations to be involved in the prevention of occupational risks.
ELA, for its part, has urged the Basque Government and employers to "immediately implement measures to monitor and monitor breaches of preventive legislation".
