ArcelorMittal's profits have increased by 80% worldwide, to 2,268 million euros
The group of factories in Sestao, Basauri, Legutiano, Salvatierra, Olaberria, Bergara, Berrioplano, Legasa and Lesaka has published a report for the second quarter of 2005.
The steel group ArcelorMittal has recorded net profits of 2,268 million euros in the first six months of the year, 80.17% more than in the same period of 2024, the company reported on Thursday.
The multinational has attributed part of this growth to the purchase of the entire AM/NS Calvert factory in June. Fifty percent of the factory that plans to become "one of the most advanced steel factories in North America" was previously owned by ArcelorMittal.
The previous result of interest, taxes, depreciations and amortizations (ebitda) was reduced by 9.9%, to €3004 million.
The group's sales in the first six months of 2025 amounted to EUR 26 817 million, 5.5% less than in the same period of 2024.
As for the company's net debt, it stood at 7244 million euros at the end of June, which is 1300 million more than in the first quarter of 2025, due "largely" to Calvert's purchase.
Its CEO, Aditya Mittal, has pointed out that "the business is solid," though "like any company," ArcelorMittal "also faces a context of constant geopolitical and tariff turmoil."
But, in his words, ArcelorMittal's "only global presidency" will enable the company to "take advantage of high-growth markets like India and Brazil and new opportunities like renewable energy."
In the Basque Country, the group has industrial facilities in Sestao, Basauri, Legutiano, Salvatierra, Olaberria, Bergara, Berrioplano, Legasa and Lesaka.
