The conflict in Petronor continues: workers have not accepted the agreement and remain on indefinite strike
Eighty percent of the workers voted against the pact reached between management and the union majority, so the so-called "locker room war" will be decided in court. Petronor has been standing still for a month and a half.
The labor dispute in Petronor has been exacerbated by the majority rejection of the agreement reached by the staff between the management of the plant and the trade union majority formed by UGT and Workers' Commissions.
The judge asked for a vote before continuing the judicial process and admitted that the transfer of the locker room meant an increase in the working day. Since the transfer, each worker invested an additional 30 minutes a day in the workshop, in return the company offered to compensate for this extra time with six days off a year.
With the rejection of the workers, the indefinite strike that began a month and a half ago, on 25 September, is kept open. Since then, Petronor's production has been partially paralyzed. In this situation, the law allows only national demand to be met, so external sales, which account for about 35% of the company's turnover, remain suspended.
From now on, it will be a court that decides the compensation for the staff, while the strike and the "locker room war" keep one of the strategic industries in the Basque Country in the air.
