The 20th edition of MWC is underway in Barcelona, focusing on space and 6G technology
The Mobile World Congress, the world's leading meeting on connectivity technology, will bring together more than 2,900 exhibitors. The Gran Via de Fira fairground in Barcelona is expected to exceed 100,000 visitors by 5 March and is expected to generate an economic impact on the territory of 585 million euros, 4.3% more than in the previous year.
The 20th edition of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) is underway in Barcelona with the aim of reaching more than 100,000 visitors and targeting digital sovereignty, new satellite technologies and the 6G.
The Telephone Congress, which will bring together more than 2,900 exhibitors, will be open in the Gran Via de Fira fairgrounds in Barcelona until 5 March and plans to generate an economic impact on the territory of 585 million euros, 4.3% more than in the previous year.
This year, the main innovationsinclude 'New Borders', the space space space Hall 6, in which SpaceX and Starlink will participate; 'Airport of the Future ', an area dedicated to aviation; and 'CircuitX', a proposal for intelligent mobility by the Barcelona-Catalonia Circuit.
The new connectivity options have their eyes on space and the congress will dedicate a separate field at Hall 6 to satellite technologies, quantum technology and artificial intelligence sobriety (AA).
This area, called 'New Borders', will be the first experience to bring the congress to space and will be attended by SpaceX President and Director of Operations Gwynne Shotwell and Starlink Division Engineering Vice President Michael Nicolls.
Returning to Earth, another of the interests of the employers of the GSMA operators, which organizes the MWC, has been air transport, which will focus on deepening this area, outside the fairgrounds, the 'Aviation of the Future' area, with the participation of Airbus and Outsight, among others.
4YFN, Talent Arena and Hall Zero
There will be no shortage of traditional venues at the fair, such as the 4 Years From Now (4YFN) space dedicated to entrepreneurs, investors and innovative companies in the startup sector.
The Talent Arena space, centered on digital talent, will be located in the Montjuïc compound and will host numerous activities from 2 to 4 March. About 22,000 professionals and university students will participate in activities to identify, develop and attract digital talent. More than 160 content sessions, 45 workshops, more than 20 activities at the Skills Lab, more than 30 robotics and gaming sessions and 5 hackatons have been organized.
Looking ahead, the MWC in Barcelona has as its goal the Hall Zero area , to expand the market by 60,000 m2 and increase the total area of the exhibitions to 300,000 m2. Enformation will be key to GSMA increasing its capacity and incorporating new projects.
However, the infrastructure will not be operational until mid-2027, so it cannot be used until 2028 MWC.
