Spanish Government calls on the European Commission to authorise urgent vaccination in Hego Euskal Herria to combat nodule dermatosis
The aim of the Spanish Government is to inject all cattle into regions close to the border with the French State, namely the Basque Country, Navarra and Aragón, since in the last few hours new sources have appeared in the French State, also close to the border, with the aim of preventing the spread of the disease from reaching other communities.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Spanish Government has asked the European Commission to authorise urgent vaccination in Hego Euskal Herria and Aragon in order to combat nodule dermatosis. It intends to vaccinate cattle in regions close to the border with the French State, Navarra, Euskadi and Aragon.
Contagious nodular dermatosis continues to advance steadily in France and inthe last few hours three new foci have been detected, which the Ministry of Agriculture has indicated means that "the virus is circulating freely to the north of the Pyrenees".
Thus, it has stressed that urgent vaccination in these border regions is a "protective measure" to prevent the spread of the disease to the rest of the Autonomous Communities, to which the Spanish State has added that doses of vaccines will be distributed.
Nodular dermatosis is a highly contagious virus that affects cattle and can cause serious production losses and economic losses, since once the virus is detected in a head, the farm must be completely emptied.
In the last few hours there has been an increase in the risk of the disease entering Hego Euskal Herria due to the detection of new sources close to the border, and in this context it has been decided to implement coordinated emergency prevention measures.
As the Navarre Government said yesterday, today the Member States of Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa agree to take the necessary measures.
