The arrested woman has been charged with taking money from her tenant's card and making purchases.
The Ertzaintza arrested yesterday afternoon in Zierbena (Bizkaia) a woman accused of defrauding the tenant of a significant amount of money, more than 24,000 euros, according to the Basque Government's Department of Security in a statement.
According to the source, the victim is an elderly person bat, with cognitive problems. The man lived in the house of the arrested woman, a tenant. The fraud was detected by his relatives when the man was hospitalized.
When they examined the bank movements, they found that the money had been taken from the cashiers several times without the consent of the man. They found that he had had these irregular movements in the house in Zierbena since he started as a tenant.
It was also reported that a purchase had been made via the Internet on behalfof another tenant of the same house (a 50-year-old male).
After filing the complaint, the Ertzaintza opened an investigation and arrested the woman yesterday, who is at the police station awaiting trial.
