Durango Fair for its 60th edition, under the slogan "Culture Festival"
The leaders of the Durango Fair have begun to unravel the details of this year's meeting, which will take place from 5 to 8 December, at today's press conference in the Landako area.
At the event, the coordinator of the Gerediaga Association, Beñat Gaztelurrutia, highlighted two major innovations: on the one hand, the transformation of the dynamic of the motto that has been invented every year in recent times and the creation of a single headline ("Festival of Culture"), and, on the other hand, the creation of many posters for the 60th edition, not just one poster.
The author of this imaginary, art director Iratxe Reparaz, explains: "The fair cannot be summed up in a single image." Each poster is a way of living Basque culture, in the words of Reparaz: "Intense colors, multidisciplinary and irregular forms that reflect the free energy and festive atmosphere of this fair."
"Like the language itself, the market is moving, changing and adopting new forms, which is why we celebrate infinity: infinite posters for a culture that is constantly reinvented," Reparaz argues.
At today's event, Beñat Gaztelurrutia recalled Izaskun Ellakuriaga Bustinza, a former partner of the Gerediaga Association, who had been organizing the Durango Fair for years, and who died in July: "In this edition we will remember and acknowledge the work done for twenty years to promote Basque culture", he explained.
In addition, Gaztelurrutia has added that the Palestinian people will be "very present" at this year's Durango Fair: "We will call for a definitive halt to the genocide, both in preparation and every day of the fair," he has warned. "As culture is also an opening to criticism and imagination, our initiative serves to unite for a fairer and more humane world."
