Bertsolari Patxi Etxeberria died at the age of 95
The Oriotarra bertsolari Patxi Etxeberria Zubiria (1930-2025) died at the age of 95. For almost 60 years he sang in the squares, until in 2017, at the age of 86, he released his last verse at the Lasarte-Oria festival.
In the1960s, he was a finalist of the Gipuzkoa Bertsolaris Championship, on three occasions, and also of the Euskal Herria Championship, in 1980. In 1999, heplayed the Gipuzkoa Intervillage Championship with young bertsolaris.
The way forward is reflected in the book Patxi Etxeberria written by Xabier Lasa in 2009, Plaza Gizon for 50 years, and in the same year he was honoured in Lasarte-Oria, where he has been his residence.
