Jon Mikel Euba, Zuhar Iruretagoiena and Garikoitz Fraga have received the Gure Artea awards
Euba has received in Vitoria-Gasteiz the award for the artistic career of Iruretagoiena for her creative work and Fraga for her work in the field of plastic and visual arts.
This afternoon the Gure Artea Awards were presented at the Artium Museum in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the main awards awarded by the Basque Government in the field of plastic and visual arts. The winners of this edition were Jon Mikel Euba (Artistic Career Award), Zuhar Iruretagoiena (Award for Creative Work) and Garikoitz Fraga (Award for Visual Arts).
The jury has highlighted the"heterogeneity of the work" of Jon Mikel Eubar (Zornotza, 1967), his role as an intergenerational reference and his constant pedagogical work in the transmission of knowledge through books, workshops and educational projects.
The jury has stressed that his performance is "a form of resistance and experimentation."
The artist Zuhar Iruretagoiena has been awarded the Gure Artea Award, which recognizes his creative work, "for the solidity of an artistic project that has studied from a critical and investigative point of view the tensions between form, materiality and symbol."
He is a Doctor of Fine Arts and a professor at the UPV, and his work is part of the "vast field of sculpture."
Garikoitz Fraga Angoitia (Bilbao, 1971) has been awarded the Gure Artea Award in recognition of the work done by the agents for his work at the head of the editorial project Belleza Infinita.
Belleza Infinita, founded in 2022 and dedicated to the artistic book, visual essay and graphic poetry, the jury has valued its "commitment to the mediation and dissemination of contemporary art, its rigorous work with artists and its contribution to the creation of an artisan and a solid editorial infrastructure for the Basque artistic ecosystem".
Each winner will receive 20,000 euros.
