Mikel Chillida will take over the leadership of Chillida Leku
Mikel Chillida will be the new director of the Chillida Leku Museum from next April 1, taking over from Mireia Massagué, who has been in office since 2018.
"My commitment is to continue the artist's vision for the museum. Our mission continues: to preserve, research and share his extraordinary work with wider audiences, to maintain an active dialogue with the present and the future, "he said.
In a statement, Chillida Leku announced the appointment, stating that the work of Mikel Chillida as Director of Development of the museum in recent years has been of "vital importancefor the institutional growthof the institution, the development of strategic alliances and the promotion of international projection ".
"The Chillida family is absolutely certain that Mikel's deep knowledge of Eduardo Chillida's artistic legacy and his firm commitment to the museum mission put Chillida Leku in an excellent position to lead the next stage, "said family spokesman Luis Chillida.
In the note, on the other hand, it is reported that Massagüe will remain linked to the organization as a consultant, who has thanked the museum for its work as director.
