Gasteiztarra painter Javier Ortiz of Guinea dies
The Alavés landscaper and portrait artist was 79 years old and his works hang on the walls of the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava and the Basque Parliament, among others.

Alavés painter Javier Ortiz of Guinea Díaz de Otalora died this Thursday at the age of 79, according to his family.
Ortiz de Guinea has portrayed cyclist Miguel Indurain, musician Carmelo Bernaola and lehendakaris Garaikoetxea, Ardanza, Ibarretxe, López, Aguirre and Leizaola.
He also reflected iconic corners of Vitoria in the paintings, and is the author of two books: 100 Alaveses characters and Vitoria-Gasteiz in watercolor and verse.
Its works are exhibited in the Provincial Council of Álava, the General Meetings of Álava and Gipuzkoa, the Museum of Fine Arts of Álava and the Basque Parliament.
