Vizcaíno director Alauda Ruiz de Azua will compete for the Golden Shell of the San Sebastian Festival for the first time with "Los Domingos"

Alauda Ruiz de Azua (Barakaldo, 1978) will compete for the Golden Shell for the first time in the Official Section of the San Sebastian Edition 73with 'The Domingos', a film starring Blanca Soroa and Patricia Lopez Arnaiz that addresses the story of an extraordinary and idealistic young man who will be attracted to the contemplative life of the closing convent.
The rookie Blanca Soroa and Patricia López Arnaiz (winner of the Silver Shell for the Best Main Performance last year for 'Los Destellos', directed by Pilar Palomero) are the protagonists of the film, in addition to Miguel Garcés, Juan Minujín, Mabel Rivera and Nagore Aranburu .
Ruiz de Azúcar's first feature film was'Cinco lobitos' (Zinemira, 2022), premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and winner of eight awards at the Malaga film festival, such as the Biznaga de Oro for the best film and the Goya for the best novel director.
He is also the author of the miniserie 'Querer' (2024), with which he participated in the Official Section of the San Sebastian Festival, out of competition, in addition to later hosting the Forqué and Feroz Awards and the Séries Mania International Competition.
'The Tigers', a diving thriller directed by Alberto Rodríguez and starring Antonio de la Torre ; 'Maspalomas', by José Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi; and 'Histories of the Good Valley', by José Luis Guerín la, are other productions for the contest, which were announced last July 11.

The "Made in Spain" section will present 28 titles at the Festival
