What else can you ask of the poster of a classic rock festival that promises you hymns like "Feel the pain, "" New rose, " "Fortunate son, " "Changed the locks, "" If you tolerate this your children will be next, "" By the grace of God , "and countless others?
Dinosaur Jr., The Damned, Creedence Clearwater Revival, led by John Fogerty, Lucinda Williams, Manic Street Preachers and The Hellacopters, and many more, from the Basque groups Libe, Kaotiko, Eh Mertxe and Ezezez, will be heard this weekend in Vitoria, in the Mendizabala area, in the 23rd edition of the Azkena Rock Festival.
ARF will start strong on Thursday in what has been called alternative rock, Dinosaur Jr. combining distortion and melody with the concert of the band that has paved the way. Along with them will be the mythical British bands The Damned and Buzzcocks, Melissa Etheridge, the quiet rock of Quique González, the iconic double bass player of Stray Cats, Lee Rocker, and the gasteiztarra Libe, presenting the album Ezten.
The main names of Friday's own must be written in unforgettable handwriting: JOHN FOGERTY Creedence Clearwater Revival rock hero, LUCINDA WILLIAMS country rock myth and JOHNNY ROTTEN punk emblem. Fogerty will return to Vitoria to face thechallenge of matching the pleasant mouth of his concert in 2017, Williams will also return to Vitoria after his visit in 2023, and the Sex Pistols singer will present the intensity of Public Image Limited.
On Saturday, in the summer, the Manic Street Preachers will release some successful and appetizing songs, no doubt The Flaming Lips will play Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots , the British Richard Hawley will show elegance, The Hellacopters will listen to a handful of songs to the public, Margo Price will play country, Dead Kennedys and Ezez will scatter energy and The Lemon Twigs will sing the melody.
In addition, the Plaza de la Virgen Blanca will host free concerts on Fridays and Saturdays: it will be the turn of London singer Laurie Wright on the first day, and on Saturday the protagonists will be the brothers Kitty, Daisy & Lewis.
