ABAO will stage Jules Massenet's opera "Werther" to begin the year
Celso Albelo, Annalisa Stroppa, Lucía Iglesias and Angel Odena will be the protagonists of four performances (17, 20, 23 and 26 January in the Basque) of the most outstanding work of French romanticism.

ABAO Bilbao Opera, the Association of Friends of the Opera, has scheduled for the beginning of the year four performances of the work of Werther Jules Massenent, the main opera of French romanticism. The suffering of young Werther, based on Goethe's epistolary work, narrates the love triangle between the poet Werther, the young Charlotte and her fiancé Albert.
In Bilbao, four performances will be held on 17, 20, 23 and 26 January, which will begin on Saturday 17 at 7 p.m. and the rest of the day at 7.30 p.m.
On stage will be tenor Ceslo Albelo, mezzosoprano Annalisa Stroppa and baritone Angel Odona, accompanied by the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, which will follow Master Carlo Montanaro.
The Leioa Kantika Coral will also participate, led by Basilio Astulez, and will help to convey to the public the great scenic beauty of the "modern and engaging" production of the Comunale di Bologna.
Tickets are on sale for between 26 and 291 euros.
