Dejabu's work "The Return" has won the Donostia Theatre Award

The work of the company Itzulera Dejabu has won the 26th Donostia Antzerki Saria Award, an award organized by the Euskera Service of the City of San Sebastián and Donostia Kultura, which, according to the jury, has been the best of all the plays offered by a professional company in San Sebastian in 2025.
The winning company Dejabu will receive 12,000 euros and a work by painter Nora Pilarte Galdona. The award ceremony will take place on March 27, International Theatre Day, at 7.30 p.m. at the Victoria Eugenia Theatre.
"In 2025, 27 adult plays were seen in Basque in San Sebastian, and a total of 14,423 spectators attended 57 of them, an average of 253 spectators per performance," said Kerman Orbegozo, Councillor for People, Economic and Budgetary Management and Euskera.
The return is a "shameless and psychedelic road movie" that tells of the trip to Mexico of three members of a theater company, Ainara, Urko and Mira, "an existential comedy with a lot of rhythm," the company explains.

On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the early death on 17 January 2026 of composer Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga, who died at the age of 19, the Bilbaia theatre bearing his name will make a double proposal.
