Irene Montero wins Podemos primary to run for office
He has received 90% support in a process in which he has finally stood alone as a candidate and, on the other hand, the party's bases have supported him to stand for election in Spain "as strong and as broad as possible."
Irene Montero has won with 90% support the primaries called by Podemos to elect candidates in the Spanish elections on November 29.
Moreover, in another process held this Friday, aimed exclusively at members of Podemos, the party's bases have supported running in the "strongest and most comprehensive candidacies" (87.7%), party sources have reported.
These processes have taken place a few hours before the deadline for registering electoral coalitions, and at the moment there is no agreement between Podemos and the parties that make up the Broad Front (IU, Movimiento Sumar, Mas Madrid and Comunidades) except in the Canary Islands.
Specifically, in Podemos' question to the bases on coalitions, he cited concrete agreements such as the one concluded with ERC to collaborate in Catalonia and for Gabriel Rufián and Irene Montero to campaign together, or the one recently closed in the Canary Islands along with Nueva Canarias, IU and the Sumar Movement.
Podemos also raised the possibility of going to the Valencian Community with more left-wing forces, along with all the forces of the Balearic "progressive bloc" to the Senate, as well as continuing to seek agreements in other territories with formations such as IU, Chunta and Mes.
