During the morning, Mazon will announce his decision to resign, to call early elections or to hold office
PPleader Alberto Núñez Feijóo and the president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, held an interview yesterday to "analyse the political context of the Valencian Community", as announced this morning by PP representative Cuca Gamarra.
"In that interview they will address the needs of the Valencian Community and those of the Partido Popular de la Comunidad Valenciana at the moment. This is the only thing we can convey to you today," Gamarra said at a press conference in Logroño.
The president of the Generalitat, who has been in solitary confinement since Friday in his hometown of Alicante, said on Thursday that he is "reflecting" on the criticism of the victims at the funeral for the deaths caused by GOIDI.
So now Mazon has three options on the table.
The first is to resign. If that were the case, they would have to elect a new president, for which they need the support of Vox, because the PP does not have an absolute majority.
The second optionwould be to bring the elections forward to 2026 , while Mazon would remain in charge of the Valencian Government.
This possible departure of Mazón has led to movements within the Valencian PP. On Friday the presidents of the three provinces (Vicente Mompo de Valencia, Antonio Pérez de Alicante and Marta Barrachina de Castellón) and the secretaries-general of the party (Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca) met together.
From Genoa, however, they have supported the mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá. Anyway, the management has the last word.
Mazon has the third option of remaining in office until the end of the legislature, which is to remain head of government until 2027, for which he will have to announce that he will not be running for the next election.
