UPV will close the Álava campus on Monday on the occasion of a Vox event
The ultra-right-wing party has made the call as a reminder of 23 February, as well as "defending freedom in university against the abertzale left."

The UPV /EHU has decided to suspend all face-to-face activity on the Álava campus next Monday, February 23, to ensure security in the face of the "risk" posed by the event called for that day by Julia Calvet, spokesperson for the Youth of the ultra-right-wing Vox party.
In response to the act of Santiago Abascal's party, a rally has been convened on social media at the entrance to the Faculty of Pharmacy againstthe "fascist political party Vox, which criminalizes anti-fascism and promotes machismo, Spanish and racism."
In a statement, the UPV/EHU leadership team has reported on the "preventive measures" it will take that day to "ensure the security"ofthe community and "put a barrier to totalitarianism".
In this way, all face-to-face activities on the Vitoria-Gasteiz campus will be suspended, offering all teaching in the online mode, with priority given to the teleworking of teachers and remote work, as well as in the case of technicians and administrators, to the extent that all services are guaranteed in the centres.
In addition, as a security measure, the main entrances to the buildings will be closed and the university 's parking spaces willbe closed from 8 a.m. onwards, and the Basque Government's Department of Security will be responsible for closing them.
The rectorate has made these decisions because the act called by Vox is "dangerous" and "to prevent the UPV from being involved in an external conflict. "
It should be remembered that on 12 October, at an event held by Falange Española in the Alavesa capital, there were clashes between fascists and groups opposed to them, in which the Ertzaintza intervened, resulting in 19 detainees, 40 injured and material damage amounting to EUR 10 000.
