Euskadi and the Canary Islands urge the urgent convening of the Conference of Presidents for the war in Iran
The President and the President of the Canary Islands, Imanol Pradales and Fernando Clavijo, have asked the President of the Spanish Government to convenea Conference of Presidents or similar body to discuss the consequences of the war in Iran.
The two leaders have sent a joint letter to the Spanish Government informing them that they are "increasingly concerned" about the economic and social consequences of the current international context due to the conflict between the United States and Israel in Iran.
The letter states that the situationhas a direct impact on the energy markets and may affect the economy, the productive fabric and the population, and therefore calls on the administrations to study the scenario jointly and to consider measures to mitigate the consequences.
Both Presidents consider it necessary to coordinate the institutional response to the potential economic consequences of the conflict, especially at a time of uncertainty in energy prices and international trade.
