The new device will replace emergency triangles to signal breakdowns or accidents. It is placed on the roof of the vehicle without leaving the car, reduces the risk of hit-and-run and automatically alerts the DGT and the emergency services.

In the accident, a car has taken the opposite direction on the motorway in the Navarre town of Cadreita, and several people have been injured.

As a result of the accident, the train has derailed, but apparently none of the passengers have been injured.

Inside the car was a man with a plastered leg (driver), a child and a woman. The first two have been taken injured to the hospitals of Cruces and Basurto. The Ertzaintza has taken precautionary measures and this officer will perform internal work until the result of the contranalysis is received and the facts clarified.

The breakdown of a truck in the 447 kilometre of the N-1 in Andoain has forced the cutting of a lane in the Irun sense, causing at least 11 kilometres of withholding.

Emergency service personnel have been unable to do anything to get the motorist out alive, and the 54-year-old man died at the scene of the accident.

Meanwhile, the Ertzaintza is diverting traffic from Irura and Villabona.

There has been a slight accident early in the morning on the BI-637 road off Zamudio and in the Galdakao sense, resulting in withholding of more than three kilometres, with no injuries, although the right lane remains closed while the vehicles are removed.

The accident occurred at 12:40 on the A-3314, on the secondary road in Kuartango (Álava).

Iurgi Berza's parents have declared that what they are experiencing is an "agony." One of the ertzainas who was to testify by videoconference has not been able to testify for lack of coverage. However, Iurgi Beraza's family has agreed to continue the hearing, but the driver involved in the capture disagreed, and the trial has been postponed until 27 November.

The hearing was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., but an ertzaina who was to testify refused to speak on the grounds that he had no coverage for the video call. However, Iurgi Beraza's family agreed to continue the trial, but not the driver who hit the child, so the trial had to be suspended.

The lowest number of deaths has been recorded in recent decades, but authorities say much remains to be done.

We spoke with Estibaliz Olabarri, Director of Traffic of the Basque Government, and Rosa Maria Trinidad, of Stop Violence Vial, about education, awareness and the current challenges of achieving safer roads. Their testimonies show that prevention is key to saving lives.

One of the cars involved is owned by the Municipal Police. The accident occurred around 1.45 p.m. on Araba Street, near the UPV/EHU university campus. Traffic is currently cut.
