Migraine cases have almost doubled since 1990, and experts predict there will be more and more
Migraine is the disease that causes the most disabilities in women aged 50.
Accordingto a study sponsored by the World Federation of Neurology K, migraine cases have almost doubled since 1990, and experts predict that they will continue to increase until 2025.
This disease could lead to increased disability and strain headaches .
As the experts have explained, the total number of migraine cases has increased significantly from 1990 to 2021, from around 732 million to 1,160 million (58% increase).
In addition, the incidence has increased from 63 million new cases per year to 90 million, an increaseof 42 per cent.
"The data are alarming. Although it produces consequences, it is not considered a serious disease that causes great suffering and disability," explains Jesús Porta-Etessam , president of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN).
In this regard, the Foundation itself has highlighted the social problem posed by the disease and said it would require "the visibility it deserves".
"It is surprising that his pharmacopoeia is not currently considered a chronic disease," Porta-Etessam adds.
Migraine is the disease that causes the most disabilities in women aged 50. The symptoms of the disease are: pain caused by blows, nausea, vomiting and high sensitivity to light and sound.
Yet migraine remains a pathology surrounded by stigma, of course, by a lack of social acceptance.
