More than 500 activities during the Aste Nagusia in Bilbao with a program "designed for all ages and tastes"
Bilbao City Council has praised live music performances, 23 street theatre shows and a fireworks contest.
The Aste Nagusia in Bilbao will offer more than 500 activities: a hundred musical performances, 23 theatre and street art shows, daily appointments with Basque culture (Basque dances, rural sports or bilbainadas, among others), a whale parade or eight pyrotechnic companies from around the world participating in the fireworks contest.
The Bilbao City Council has stated that the city is "working on the last details" to begin the nine holidays designed to "enjoy the billiards and the people who visit Bilbao these days."
The Big Week will begin on Saturday, August 16, with the reading of the prophecy by the singer and leader of Doctor Deseo Francis Diez Rojo eta Olatz Ares, comparecientes of Txori Barrote, from 19:00 on the balcony of the Arriaga Theatre.
The nine stages will host more than 100 live music concerts with diverse genres and local and international artists.

The most "diverse and intercultural" music, according to the City Council, will be played in Plaza Nueva with concerts by national and international artists. All concerts on this stage will begin at 23:30.

In addition, Doña Casilda Park will host another year's classic guateque, with eight sessions, two of them double, from Saturday 16 to Saturday 23 August. All artists will perform from 23:30, except on August 16 and 23, in which the music will begin at 21:00, by DJ Luis Carlos del Pozo.
The Bilbao Municipal Band of Music will perform (in addition to the collaborations of Abraham Cupeiro and Sorotan Bele) from 12:00 at the Kiosk of the Arenal.
In addition, the Municipal Band of Txistularis will offer a concert on Tuesday, August 19, at 11:30 in the Plaza de Santiago. The parade will depart at 6:00 p.m. from the Circular Square, cross Major Street and Moyua Square and end in front of Dr. Areilza.
Every night, from 16 to 22 August, at 22:30, seven "internationally successful" fireworks companies will participate in the XXXIII International Fireworks Competition. The last night, on 23 August, will be closed by the Alavesa company Pirotecnia Valecea with an exhibition that does not enter the competition.
Street theater and Txikigune
The theatre and street arts will take place in the Plaza de la Convivencia, between the Isozaki Towers, and in the Pergola of Doña Casilda Park, from Sunday 17 August to Sunday 24 August. There are 23 shows scheduled for all tastes and ages by 19 companies, seven of them Basque, five state and seven international.
On the other hand, the Txikigune, in Casilda Park, will invite families to more than 30 playful activities adapted to children between the ages of 0 and 12, "which will be trained in the values of sustainability, multiculturalism, co-responsibility, diversity and human rights, among others", from 17 to 24 August.
In addition, the space will have accessibility and inclusion measures and no sound alterations for people with autism spectrum disorder.
Rural sport and Basque dances
At the Herri Kirolak exhibitions, from Thursday, August 21 to Sunday, August 24, at 12:00, the Pentathlon Competition, the Bizkaia Sweeper League and the disciplines will pay "special attention to the presence of women and young people".
The Hope fronton will host the Big Week ball tournament from Saturday, August 16 to Saturday, August 23 (in various ways), and two races will be played in the Bilbao River on Saturday, August 23.
The Euskal Dantzak, for their part, will be protagonists in the evenings, starting at 7 p.m., in Plaza Nueva, by the Bizkaia Dance Congress (BDB). From Sunday 17 August until Sunday 24, there will be exhibitions, romeries, Larrain Dantza and Alardes.
