Four men have been arrested in Bizkaia for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14
The Ertzaintza has arrested in Bizkaia four men between the ages of 19 and 54 accused of having participated in four different sexual assaults suffered by a child under the age of 14.
In addition, three other men are being investigated for allegedly supplying narcotic substances to the young man, according to the Department of Safety and Security on Saturday.
The investigation began on 16 June, when the minor went to the Ibaizabal police station and reported having been sexually assaulted two days earlier, in the early morning of 14 June, at a tarp in Basauri.
The first sexual assault was allegedly committed by a 39-year-old man who recorded the incident with his mobile phone and was arrested the same day in Basauri by the Ertzaintza, who had a police record and had previously been arrested twice.
According to the information obtained in this first action, three other persons were also able to sexually assault the minor in other incidents, which led to the investigation being taken over by the Juvenile Offences Group of the Central Criminal Investigation Section (SECIC) of the Ertzaintza.
Three more arrests
After analyzing various evidence, the officers identified three other men.
The first was arrested on 16 July in Bilbao on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, who had no record and was taken into custody on the same day.
The second was arrested on 23 July in Erandio on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, a man with a police record related to drug trafficking.
The last arrest took place on 5 August in Barakaldo, where the detainee was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor, who had no record, and was taken into custody on the same day.
Thus, the investigation has made it possible to determine the involvement of four men in four different sexual assaults , all of which resulted in the same minor being the victim.
Three men investigated for drug use
On the other hand, the analysis of the information gathered in the investigation revealed the alleged involvement of three other men, aged 17, 21 and 28.
All three are being investigated for an alleged public health offence, according to the Ertzaintza, on suspicion of supplying narcotic substances to the minor.
The investigation remains open to clarify the circumstances of the four incidents and determine the degree of involvement of all persons under investigation.
