A carrier dies in Muxika while loading and unloading
The man was hit by a machine on Wednesday, and although he was treated by emergency services in a medicalized ambulance, he died hours later from serious injuries caused by the accident.
A carrier died on Wednesday in a work-related accident in Muxika (Bizkaia) when he was hit by a machine while carrying out loading and unloading work, according to a statement from LAB, an employee of a subcontracted transport company working at the Ebaki company at the time of the accident.
LAB has specified that the worker was treated in a medicalized ambulance, but died hours later as a result of serious injuries caused by the accident.
The union expresses its condolences and solidarity to the family, friends and close friends of the deceased worker, and expresses the repetition of a "classic" du of a carrier who died during the loading and unloading.
LAB has reported that prevention regulations provide for this situation and that contracting companies must have appropriate procedures for carriers to "wait in the cabin or stay in safe areas".
This being the case, the union has pointed out the need to develop a coordination procedure to prevent accidents, and yesterday "this procedure was not developed or at least not put in place".
LAB has ensured that the administration has been "protecting corporate impunity" for 30 years, a decision that has already caused 41 deaths so far this year.
Thus, the union has advanced that it will join the stops and mobilizations that the Ebaki committee will convene in the next few hours.
