Work-related accidents

Workers are calling for 'ensuring their health and safety' after the company has suffered several accidents, including the accident in which a young worker died on 31 January.

The accident happened around 6:30 on Friday, when the worker was hit by a grass ball.

The accident occurred at a waste management company located at the livestock site in the municipality of Navarre, where, according to the first investigations, the worker was hit by a loading shovel.

The accident occurred around 8:00 p.m. and the emergency services displaced to the scene were unable to revive the worker.

67% of workers had no casualties in 2025, but a small group concentrated most of the days of absence, according to the Absenteeism Barometer.

At least 300 people have died in another landslide in the Rubaya mining area in the north-east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where another 200 people died on Tuesday and more than 400 on January 28.

LAB warns that these deaths occur under pressure, stress and long working hours and calls for policies to guarantee labour rights.

The ELA union has denounced the recurrence of accidents at the plant and has called for "real and effective" preventive measures to ensure the safety of workers.

The accident at work took place around 11:45 on Iñaki Azpiazu Street and the 44-year-old worker was taken to Donostia Hospital. 

The accident occurred at around 2.08 p.m. yesterday in the Borda Field, where the man was working with a small tractor and was trapped as a result of the accident, causing serious injuries.

The ELA union has reported that a VCL worker suffered a "serious" work-related accident at the Port of Bilbao last Tuesday, according to which he was trapped between a shovel and a car. 

The 59-year-old man has been taken to the University Hospital of Navarre with numerous contusions of reserved prognosis. This Saturday the accident occurred while working. 

The 45-year-old man died at a company in the town of Biscay around 14:20 this afternoon.
