Workers are calling for 'ensuring their health and safety' after the company has suffered several accidents, including the accident in which a young worker died on 31 January.
Workers from the company Estaños Matiena, based in Zumaia, will go on strike between 13and 17 April to demand that occupational health and safety be guaranteed after several accidents at work in recent months.
The LAB union has reported that the management of the company "has not taken immediate action" to strengthen the prevention of occupational risks and has also acted "in bad faith" before the representation of workers.
The union states that between August 2025 and March 2026 there have been several work-related accidents at the company and stresses that in the accident of 31 January a young worker died.
LAB also denounces that the company has ignored workers' demands to improve preventive organization and strengthen job security, accusing management of responding with threats, lack of transparency and refusal to take responsibility, as well as limiting union representation rights.
