Euskadi and Navarre, among the communities with the highest average retirement pension
Social Security has spent 13,620.8 million euros in August on the regular monthly payroll of contributory pensions, almost three-quarters of which for retirement pensions.
The average retirement pension in the Basque Country was €1,836 in August and €1,688 in Navarre, both of which are among the four highest in the State, as reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and Migration.
The five largest retired communities are Asturias (1,776.65), Madrid (1,729.74) and Cantabria (1,595.03), with a State average of €1,507.55.
In addition to the retirement pension, the system includes permanent incapacity, widowhood, orphanage and family pension, with 585,588 pensions paid in August in the Basque Country and 147,498 in Navarre.
Brokendown by type of pension , 391,606 retirement pensions, 132,895 widows' pensions (with an average of €1,129 22), 42,932 permanent incapacity (with an average of €1,533.04), 15,884 orphan pensions (with an average of €633.74) and 2,271 family members (with an average of €992.11) were paid in the Basque Country in August.
In Navarre, retirement pensions are 102,346, widows' pensions are 30,011 (with an average of 1,034.04 euros), permanent incapacity pensions are 10,525 (with an average of 1,436.97 euros), orphans' pensions are 4,245 (with an average of 557.25 euros) and family pensions are 371 (with an average of 839.14 euros).
At the state level, Social Security used a record figure of 13,620.8 million euros in August to pay the regular monthly payroll of contributory pensions, 6.2% more than in the same month of 2024.
On the August payroll, the increase in the value of pensions approved this year is 2.8% overall and between 6% and 9% for minimum pensions.
Almost three-quarters of this month's contributory pension payroll was for retirement pensions, with an overall amount of EUR 9.954.9 billion, 6.1% more than in August 2024.
