The Spanish Government approves salary increases for civil servants: 2.5% by 2025 and 1.5% by 2026
This year's increase will be paid in a single payment with retroactive effects from 1 January, while that of 2026 will have a fixed increase of 1.5%, to which will be added 0.5% by 2027 if inflation so requires.
The Council of Ministers has today approved the salary increases for civil servants: by 2.5% by 2025 and 1.5% by 2026, during which year another 0.5% could be increased, depending on the evolution of inflation, to 3.5 million public employees.
At the press conference following the Council of Ministers, the Minister for Digital Transformation and Public Service, Óscar López, stressed that the increases are part of the agreement reached last week by the Spanish Government with the trade unions , which provides for an 11% increase for the entire period 2025-2028.

The agreement will affect all public administrations, including the Basque Country, although each Autonomous Community or City Council will determine how to pay its staff.
According to union estimates, the cumulative four-year increase could reach 11.5%, dragged along by annual increases.
