Despite respecting the call for a strike, Torres believes that "it is not the best way" to achieve the minimum wage in the Basque Country
The Second Vice-President of the Basque Government and Adviser for Economy, Employment and Labour has asked the unions and employers to sit down and talk because "is always dialogue, the best solution to reach agreements".
The second Vice-President of the Basque Government and Adviser for the Economy, Employment and Labour, Mikel Torres, has expressed his respect for the call fora general strike, although he believes that "it is not the best way" to achieve a minimum wage.
He has pointed out that the Basque Government 'unequivocally' defends the possibility of having a minimum wage of its own, but linked to collective bargaining, and has added that the Basque Government, and in particular its Department, has worked on this issue 'from the outset' and has even brought to the debate a report on the socio-economic and social reality of the Basque Country, proposing, in this analysis, certain sections of the minimum wage.
He has insisted that the way to address this issue is to 'sit down and talk and reach an agreement' and 'not as these trade unions intended', referring to the refusal of the Basque Parliament to process the OPE.
In this regard, it has once again invited both parties (trade unions and employers) to sit down because "dialogue is always the best way to reach agreements".
