18 women, 12 in the Basque Country, have been released from a network of sexual exploitation
The National Police has disbanded a criminal organization that sexually exploited women in prostitution houses in six autonomous communities, including the Basque Country. The 18 released victims (12 of them in the Basque Country) were taken in Colombia under false promises of work, owed €8,000 and had to settle for prostitution. There are five detainees, three in Bilbao and two in Gijón, two of whom have been placed in pre-trial detention.
According to the National Police in a press release, the investigation began in September 2024 following the testimony of a victim who reported that she had been deceived and transferred from Colombia to Santander, where she was finally sexually exploited.
