The Provincial Council of Álava has fined 11,000 euros to a father in Vitoria for attempting to attack an arbitrator and a coach
This is the second time that such a proposal for a sanction has been initiated by the Foral institution, which has ensured that it will continue to act "firmly" in the face of "the significance and gravity of the facts".
The Provincial Council of Álava hasfined a father 11,000 euros for insulting and assaultingthe referee and coach of the rival team at a children's football match in Vitoria in May, and he will not be able to access sports halls for two years.
This is the second time that such a proposal for a sanction has been launched by the Foral institution, which has ensured that it will continue to act "firmly" in the face of "the importance and gravity of the facts".
"Coexistence and respect are indispensable principles and we will continue to apply all necessary measures," sports MP Ana Del Val said in a press release.
The incident took place in a sports complex in the Basque capital. When the referee fired a player from the visiting team, a person associated with the team, specifically the father of one of the players, entered the field with the intention of attacking the epithet and the coach of the local team.
The judge decided to suspend the game by applying the protocol of respect on the stands, as the person who entered the guard refused to leave.
According to the foral institution, in the explanatory letter submitted by the visiting team, these facts were confirmed. The conduct may be described as "very serious" under the Basque Country's Physical Activity and Sport Act, which states that "the assault, intimidation or coercion of arbitrators, judges, sportsmen, technicians, sports authorities and other persons participating in sporting events shall be regarded as very serious offences".
In such cases, penalties may range from EUR 10,001 to EUR 100,000, and a ban may be imposed on entry into sports facilities for up to four years.
Two months ago, an initial penalty file of EUR 5 000 was opened for a father who had been banned from entering sports halls for a year in Vitoria for assaulting a child during a school football game.
