Barakaldo and Balmaseda have expressed their condolences for the three young Biscayans who died in Santander
The municipalities of Barakaldo and Balmaseda have "deeply" lamented the deathof three young people from these two Biscayan municipalities in the "tragic accident" that occurred on Tuesdaywith the sinking of the El Bocal crossing in Santander.
Five people died in the accident: two 19-year-old girls born in Barakaldo, a 21-year-old boy from Balmaseda, another 22-year-old girl from Igollo de Camargo (Cantabria), and a fifth girl from Almería, aged 20. In addition, a 20-year-old girl from Guadalajara is missing and another young woman admitted to the hospital, a 19-year-oldgirl from Elvillar (Álava).
In a brief statement, the Barakaldo City Councilstates that "it is deeply affected by the death of two young people in the city and leaves an irreparable void." On behalf of the City Corporation and all the citizens of Barakaldo, the City Council has conveyed its "sincere condolences and all its affection to the families, friends and close friends of the deceased in these moments of terrible pain."
On the other hand, the Balmaseda City Councilhas also issued a note in which it shares the grief caused by the tragic accident, stressing that the victims include a 21-year-old from the municipality who has wished to convey "our deepest condolences and all our affection" to his family, friends and relatives and relatives of the other victims, as well as support for "the educational community of the CIFP La Granja de Heras".
