A girl from Elvillar (Álava) remains in the intensive care unit as a result of the accident in Santander

There are five dead and one injured as a result of the collapse of a wooden walkway off the coast of El Bocal in Santander. In addition, one person is missing. The hospitalized young man is a 19-year-old Alavés neighbour of Elvillar and remains in the ICU in a serious condition due to trauma.

According to the Government Delegation in Cantabria, among the deceasedare three young Basques , two 19-year-old girls from Barakaldo and a 21-year-old boy from Balmaseda, in addition to a 22-year-old from Igollo de Camargo and a 20-year-old from Almería.

The missing person is a 20-year-old girl from Guadalajara, whose search was resumed at 8 a.m. this Wednesday, when the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when a group of six girls and one boy fell through the passage.

The fifth deceased was found around 8:00 p.m. without light in the area, while emergency teams are working to locate the missing woman.

The collapse of this infrastructure has caused great shock inthe city, where the Santander City Council has called for a minute's silence at noon and decreed two days of mourning, a measure to which the Cantabria Government and other municipalities in the region have joined.
