Eguzki has reported to the Public Prosecutor's Office that a ton of Monpas' boga has been banned "illegally"
The environmental association Eguzki has filed a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office in Gipuzkoaforallegedly illegally throwing about a ton of boga directly into the sea in front of Cape Mompas in San Sebastian.
According to the complaint released by the group hours after it was presented this Sunday to the Environment Department of the Gipuzkoa Public Prosecutor's Office, the incident occurred on Thursday, 14 August, and it has also provided photographs of it.
In its request, it considers that the return of catches was carried out 'inbreachof State and European regulations on the landing and conservation of fishing resources', as well as in the public domain ETA in land-land waters , which is in express violation of the provisions of EU Regulation 1380/2013, the State Maritime Fisheries Act and the autonomous maritime fisheries regulations of the Basque Country.
It argues that the massive displacement of the boga (Boops Boops) on the skirt of Mount Ulia, opposite the tip of Monpas, does not fulfil the obligation laid down inthe European 'regulated landing' regulation mentioned above from 2019.
Eguzki has stated in the complaint that would not apply to "exceptions" or "flexibility "defined in the Criminal Code with various penalties, and therefore considers that the discharge of the vault constitutes a "crime against natural resources and the environment ", as well as against the FAUNA for affecting the ecosystem and natural balanceof the sea. The environmental association has asked the Public Prosecutor's Office to investigate the facts in order to identify the person responsible and has requested the investigation to be carried out by the Maritime Civil Guard of Gipuzkoa or UCOMA.
